From an early age, Barry discovered his love of music—always drumming his fingers on the edge of a table or tapping his feet to the beat. At the tender age of 11, he began taking classes and later joined the Downsview Junior Pipe Band, where he was the lead drummer. However, finding other kids with the same passion for playing tunes was virtually impossible then, and Barry’s drumming took a multi-decade hiatus. The “sticks” continued to call his name, and he picked right back up where he had left off at 45, starting a band with a couple of coworkers and then honing his skills with lessons at 50, though he is mostly self-taught.
When Barry began drumming with The Blaze Brothers, playing at the Richmond Hill Theatre for Performing Arts was a memorable highlight. He was also proud to be a part of the Jaded Edge, Shades Of Grey, and Tie Dye Cowboys.
Today, Barry rocks out on a TRS custom kit and feels like he has reached the summit playing with the Dawgs—the most talented musicians he has ever had the opportunity to jam with.
